War Card Game

War card game is fun for all ages and is easy to learn.

war card game

This fun card game is based entirely on luck. I've been playing this game with my granddaughter for a year or two now and she really enjoys it.

Object

To win all the cards.

Number of players

2

Equipment

A deck of 52 playing cards

Set up

Shuffle the cards.
Deal out all the cards, face down. Without looking at the cards, the players straighten them into a neat pile and set them in front of them at the table.

To play

Players turn over the top card from their pile at the same time.
The player with the highest card wins both the cards. They place these two cards face down at the bottom of their pile.

If the two cards played are of the same rank, this means "war".
The two matching ranked cards are left on the table and each player places three cards from the top of their deck face down on top of their war card. A fourth card is placed face up on the three face down cards. The highest card wins.
If the fourth cards are again a pair, another war is repeated.

If at any time a player doesn't have enough cards to use for a full war, his last card is turned up to serve as his war card.

Winning the game

The game is won by earning all the cards from the deck.
