Pin The Tail
preschool game

Pin The Tail is a classic birthday party game for preschoolers.

Make the game even more fun by updating the Donkey to a favorite cartoon character.
Can you pin the tie on Sponge Bob or the belly button on Patrick? What about putting a tire on a race car?

With a little imagination you can make the game fit any type of party or get together.

For the 4th of July, try putting a star on the flag. A Halloween pumpkin may be missing his nose. A Church may be missing the steeple.

Object of game

To pin or tape the missing part of the picture in the correct place while blindfolded

Number of players

3 or more

Equipment

A wall
A Pin The Tail On The Donkey kit or make your own using a large sheet of paper.
A blindfold or bandanna
Tape

Set up

Place the Donkey picture on the wall at a height that is comfortable for the children.
Write each childs' name on a tail.

How to play

Have the children line up in front of the donkey picture.
Hand each child the tail with their name on it.
Blindfold the first person in line and turn them around three times so they end up facing the donkey again. Have them walk up to the donkey and place their tail on the picture.

Winning the game

The player who pins the tail the closest to the correct spot wins the game.

Variations

For a circus party, draw a large clown face and paint everything but the nose area. Make each player a nose out of red construction paper. The players try to pin the nose on the clown.

For Easter, draw an Easter basket with eggs in it and leave one egg uncolored. Make an egg for each player out of construction paper. The player who places their egg closes to the missing egg on the poster wins.

A Christmas tree or Wreath can be used as a fun Pin The Ornament game. Draw a picture of a tree or wreath with one ornament missing. The child placing the ornament closes to the correct spot wins.

There are many options for making this game fit the theme of the occasion or party.
