You can also place the chairs in a line with every other chair facing the opposite direction.The players form a circle around the chairs by standing near them. Pick a leader or be the leader yourself. The leader starts and stops the music. How to playWhen the leader starts the music, the kids should march single file around the chairs.When the leader stops the music, the kids should scramble to a chair and sit down as quickly as they can. The player left without a chair is out of the game. A chair is then removed for the line so that there remains one less chair than player. The game continues until one player is left. Winning the gameThe winner is the player who manages to sit down in the one remaining chair.VariationsUse pillows or seat cushions instead of chairs.Hats, gloves or even shoes can be used instead of chairs. Have a hat for all but one player. Set the hats in a line and have the children move around the hats. When the music stops the players scramble for a hat and place it on their heads. The player without a hat is out of the game.
