Mouse Catcher Preschool Halloween Game
Mouse Catcher is an adaptation of a popular kids game.
Children love playing Duck, Duck, Goose. This game is played the same way except instead of ducks and geese, it's played using mice and cats. Having a large outdoor space is best for this game but an indoor room can be used if breakables and furniture are removed from the area.
Object of gameFor the cat to catch the mouse Number of players4 or MoreEquipment Large room or outdoor spaceSet upHave the kids sit in a circle with their legs folded in front of them.Choose one person to be the "Mouse". How to playThe Mouse walks around the outside of the circle tapping each child on the head softly while say "Mouse" with each tap. After awhile The Mouse should tap and say "Cat".The Cat jumps up and chases the Mouse trying to catch it before the mouse can take over the spot the Cat was sitting in. If the Cat catches the Mouse, the same player is the Mouse for the next round. If the Mouse makes it to the Cats original spot than the Cat becomes the Mouse and the game starts over again. Winning the gameEveryone wins in this game. Give every player a chance to be the Cat so they can run after the Mouse.VariationsFor an extra large group try having two Mice. Start them off at opposite sides of the circle.A more challenging game would be to have the mice and cats crawl rather than run around the circle.
