Crazy Eights Card Game

Crazy eights is a popular game that can be played by adults as well as children.

There are many variations of the basic game; Crazy Jacks, Last One, Spoons, Switch and the ever popular Uno.crazy eights

Object

To be the first to get rid of all your cards.

Number of players

2 to 4

Equipment

A deck of Crazy 8 cards or a standard 52-card deck of playing cards

Set up

Shuffle the deck.
Deal five cards face down, one at a time to each player. If only two people are playing, deal seven cards to each.

The remaining cards are placed face down in the center of the table, this pile is the draw pile. The top card from the draw pile is turned face up and placed beside it, this forms the discard pile.
If this top card is an eight, bury it into the pile and turn up another card.

How to play crazy eights

The player to the left of the dealer begins by playing one card face up on the discard pile. This card must match the previous card either by suit or value. If the discard pile's card is a seven of diamonds, any diamond card or seven card can be place on it.

If the player can't match the card in the discard pile by suit or value, she must take cards one by one from the draw pile until she finds one to play.

All eights are wild; one can be played regardless of what card is showing in the discard pile. When an eight is laid onto the discard pile, the player call out what suit they want the next card to be. If the discard pile is showing a six of clubs and the player places an eight of diamonds on the discard pile, he may call the suit to be hearts or even spades. At which time the next player must place a spade card or take cards from the draw pile until he can.

When there are no more cards in the draw pile, players must play from their hands or pass their turn if they can't play a card.

Winning the game

To be the winner, you need to be the first one to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
