Childrens Card Games

Childrens card games are a great way to chase away summer's boredom and winter's chill. They're especially fun on rainy afternoons.

Kids card games make a great addition to your family game nights. Whether you buy a special deck to play certain card games or use a standard 52-card deck, card games are an inexpensive form of family entertainment.

These fun games are easy to learn, yet challenging enough to be exciting.

Just because a game is listed here in the child's card game section, doesn't mean an adult can't play it. Crazy eights is a game played by children as young as 3, but still enjoyed by a wide range of adult ages.

Reasons For Card Games

Card games are an inexpensive and fun way to foster learning.

Recognition: As a child continually plays with the cards in a deck, whether it is a colorful picture card set or a standard 52-card deck they will learn to quickly take in what the card looks like. They'll learn to distinguish between face cards and number cards and between different pictures.

Matching Cards: A child will learn how some cards are similar and how some are different. They'll learn that a suit of cards contains a variety of number and face cards, yet all have the same suit. Pairing like items together in games like Old Maid and Concentration help reinforce similarities.

Sequences: A child will learn how to build up and down the number line by playing games like Card Dominoes. They'll quickly learn which card has the greater value by playing War.

Playing card games with your kids allows you to teach values such as playing fairly and taking turns as well as important math skills that they need to learn. Card games you teach them now can be passed on to future generations.
