Cat Scat Game
Preschool Halloween Fun

The Cat Scat Game is a beanbag or ball tossing game where kids try to knock cats over.

Halloween cat on fence

Using stuffed animals and beanbags, the kids get a chance to improve their aim.

This may be a great game to lead into a discussion on being nice to animals and the proper way to approach cats and dogs.

It can also begin a discussion on what pets they own and how they care for them.

Object of game

To knock cats over by tossing beanbags or balls at them.

Number of players

2 or More

Equipment

3 stuffed cats
3 beanbags or soft squishy balls
Masking tape
Optional: picket fence section or make your own picket fence using poster board to cut out the shape.

Set up

Place the cats in a line on a desk.

Place picket fence in front of the desk so that the cats look like they're sitting on it. You can put the cats on a book or two if you need to raise them up.

Mark a tossing line on the floor a few feet from the desk. Masking tape is easy to use for making the line.

How to play

Each child gets three tries to knock over the cats by tossing the beanbags at them. Each cat knocked over gets them one point.

Winning the game

The child with the most points wins the game.

This can also be played where everyone is a winner. Give everyone that participates a sticker and those that knock over a cat a pencil.

Variations

Use cats of various sizes and awarding points based on size. A small cat gives 5 points, a medium sized cat gives 3 points and a larger cat giving 1 point.

If you have a small group of players, you can play rounds. The first person to reach 20 points wins the game.
