Bat Coin Toss
Preschool Halloween Game

Bat Coin Toss is a batty Halloween game that involves tossing coins into a container.

brown bat

Tossing coins into containers is a challenge that most kids will enjoy. This Halloween game is inexpensive to set up and fun to play.

Coins are being used in the game and can lead to some great classroom discussions about money.

Value of various coins can be discussed as well as learning about coins used in other countries.

Object of game

Toss coins into the containers and have them stay in

Number of players

2 or More

Equipment

Pennies (6 will be used for the game, but have extras on hand)
Masking tape
Bat stickers
3-4 Unbreakable shallow bowls

Set up

Decorate the bowls with bat stickers.

Mark a tossing line on the floor using masking tape.

Arrange the containers on a desk in a random fashion rather than in a line.

How to play

Give the first player six pennies and have them stand behind the tossing line. They try to toss the coins, one at a time, so that they land in the bowl without falling out.

If a coin stays in the bowl it is worth two points. If the coin goes into the bowl and pops out landing on the table, give the player one point.

Winning the game

Winner is the person who has the most points after one round.

Variations

To keep pennies from flying all over the room, hang a sheet behind the table and place a rug or blanket under the table. These materials will absorb the wayward pennies so they aren't rolling all over the room.

Quarters can be used instead of pennies if the penny seems to be too small for the childrens' hands.
