Bat Beanbag Toss
Preschool Halloween Game

Bat Beanbag Toss is similar to the festival games of knocking over milk cans.

Halloween batKnocking things over is fun. Kids as young as one love to plow over blocks stacked up and watch them fly across the floor.

This game uses beanbags to knock over the cans, but the thrill of hitting the target and watching the cans fly will create some bright smiles for the preschoolers.

Having some helpers to gather and re-stack the cans will keep the game moving along. If you have a large class, you can set up more than one station of cans to knock over.

Object of game

Knock all the cans off the desk

Number of players

2 or More

Equipment

3 Beanbags or squishy balls
6 Empty Cans with lids, all the same size
Construction Paper: orange and black
Masking tape
Glue

Set up

Wrap the cans with orange construction paper.

Cut bat shapes from the black construction paper and glue onto the cans.

Set the cans onto the desk in a pyramid shape.

Mark a tossing line on the floor with masking tape.

How to play

Standing behind the tossing line, each child gets three tries to knock over all the bat cans.

Winning the game

Preschool children will be happy with knocking the cans over and making noise and not announcing a "winner" but if you want it can be a competitive game.

You can award stickers to everyone who knocks over some of the cans, a bookmark to those that knock two cans on the floor and a pencil to those that knock all the cans down.

Variations

Use plastic or wooden building blocks that have been decorated with Halloween stickers.

Use five cans instead of six. It will be faster for the re- stacking and easier for the kids to knock the cans over.

Instead of using cans, you can stack plastic pumpkins up and try to knock those over.
